Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was understandable for questions to be asked about his position after a further convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in twelve matches, marking the club's worst run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got plenty of support from above,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to change things and get a victory obviously but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I accept my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular discussions I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot lamented familiar weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder said.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a phase such as this with results so bad.”

Jones concluded, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And until that badge is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to the top, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
