Indeed, it's Brimming with Gibberish, Extreme Hosting and Psychobabble. However, I Honestly Adore Meghan's Holiday Special.

No concerned with the time of year, it's constantly open season for scrutiny on the Meghan Markle's Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. Commentators, both professional and armchair, have seldom found such common ground as when enthusiastically shredding the lifestyle show's initial installments apart. The prevailing view held that a bigger monarchy-related faux pas had hardly ever taken place than the notorious snack re-labeling incident.

Currently, as a festive rebel, she makes a comeback once again with a "Festive Special" (or a holiday episode). But this time, the dynamic has changed. The familiar ingredients viewers are accustomed to – meaningless jargon salads, extreme hosting – are still present, but within the context of a Christmas special, it all clicks into place. The puzzle has come into place; it's a ideal seasonal storm.

Now, Meghan has become the eccentric aunt at the typical holiday get-together – offering random tips, and supplying the odd random outburst. ("I love spinach!" … "A tradition has to have a beginning." … "A tree is part of my memory and love of the holiday season.") She's an interesting figure, but her aura is known and strangely comforting. And she appears pleased; she's causing any harm.

She understands her all subtle gestures, word and look will be analyzed and criticised, but manages to seem relaxed and too blessed to be stressed.

Maybe this is the first occasion in history where that clichéd phrase – "Ignore them, they're just jealous" – might be true. Because, in all honesty, all aspects in Meghan's Holiday Celebration honestly feels lovely. Admittedly, it's all cringily ultra-extra, nonsense and extravagant – but is that not just what the holiday season is all about? And the advice she gives might be laughable, but the life she leads appears to be beautifully curated.

Anything she turns her beautifully manicured, diamond-adorned hand to, she pulls off with panache. Her cooking looks scrumptious, the wreath she crafts is breathtaking, her presents are practically too exquisite to tear into. Nothing is ordinary or aesthetically displeasing – even the way she fastens her apron is creative and fashionable. She doesn't toss a dish in the oven, it "goes for a spin", and she wraps gift paper like an craft master. She also seems to be thoroughly enjoying herself the entire time. How could any cynical observer not be won over, overcome by seasonal cheer and left with a intense desire for handmade crackers or a crudites platter where greens is organized in the shape of a festive circle?

Meghan was once an actress for a living, of course, but despite that, after the degree of examination she has faced ever since she started dating Prince Harry, the love child of acting royalty would struggle to act this authentically. Her unwillingness to modify or even soften her routine, even though it being so relentlessly, internationally ridiculed, is oddly heartening. In our volatile world, here is something we can depend on: Meghan will stay true to form, whatever happens. We will always know where we are with her.

If you're not yet convinced by her message, a reminder that will undoubtedly come as a relief: you are not obligated to. There isn't national service these days, and should it be reinstated, it would be unlikely to include streaming With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration. If, however, you decide to tune in and are gripped with envy about her idyllic Christmas, there is hope either. Be you a royal or a data administrator, hardly any child fully understands the effort and hard work their mother does in the holiday season. So you can console yourself by picturing her children's faces when they reveal a handwritten message that says, 'I love you because you are brave,' from a handcrafted holiday countdown, in place of a chocolate.
