PSG Defeats Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now claimed the prestigious cup on 14 different times.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown between the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup holders after the French winger opened the net early on.

However, Marseille fired two times late to take a surprise lead. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to force the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a convincing shootout win.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the last thirteen seasons.
