Three-time award winner Jokic endures a 'devastating' injury to his knee.
Thrice-crowned NBA MVP Jokic endured a "gut-wrenching" injury to his knee when the Nuggets fell 147-123 against the Heat.
Jokic was hurt late in the first half in an accidental collision with fellow Nugget Jones.
The other player came down on the footwear of the MVP, and he immediately fell to the court grabbing his leg.
The veteran player, that leads the league this season in rebounds and dimes, recorded a score of 21 points and eight assists in the game prior to suffering the setback.
The player will undergo an MRI scan on Tuesday to assess the severity of the problem.
"Right away, he realized there was a problem," said Denver head coach Adelman.
"This is part of the NBA. Anyone that gets hurt, it's difficult, particularly somebody as important as him. More information will come on Tuesday."
"The team will adjust together. Of course, currently, I am more concerned just about him as a person and the letdown of experiencing a situation like that."
